Dermal Fillers are primarily used to reduce the signs of ageing, most especially with regard to lips, wrinkles, frown and marionette lines. The primary active ingredient in our fillers is Hyaluronic Acid, a water retaining gel that is naturally occurring in the human body.
All about Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers are an extremely versatile tool for our work helping people achieve natural looking results when enhancing their appearance. Most customers who use them are interested in improving lips, wrinkles and lines, but we do deal with cases which are not typical, such as asymmetry, where a little adjustment can make a huge difference.
It’s a common misconception that Fillers are only for women. We do have male clients who come to get a refreshed and youthful appearance, especially when they are in professions or situations where the appearance of youth can give an advantage, but they are a distinct minority and they need treating differently, medically speaking, from our female clients.
It's important to understand that our approach to both execution and pricing is different from most clinics that provide this service, especially when it comes to lips. We take great pride in our stance that we will only provide enhancements which appear truly natural and fit the features and composition of our clients. A good example of this is when asked for “duck lips”, which does happen on occasion. Duck Lips are a particular style which only really works on women who have a particular shape to their face. On everyone else, it looks unnatural and simply screams “Fake Lips”. We don’t judge, naturally, and if someone wants that look then there are many other clinics who are happy to provide this service. We, on the other hand, don’t look for, or provide, a service like that. Duck Lips, and other temporary fashion fads, are something we have done on occasion, but only where the client has a face on which they would look natural.
There it is again, that word “natural”. It’s a core philosophy at Pure Harmony Clinic that everything we do, and all the products we use, are natural and safe.
For pricing, we take a different path to most. We don’t charge by the ml. We’re not a factory, selling product that’s been manufactured and pumped out for mass consumption. We only use as much filler as is needed, no more, no less. Our treatments are also split into two sessions. There is the main session, where the initial foundation is laid and shape is formed, and there is the top-up a few weeks later. These two sessions comprise a single treatment, and the reasons are simple to understand when explained properly, so we’ll do that now.
- The effects last longer. Filler gets absorbed into the body as it’s a naturally occurring substance, so over time the effect is diminished. A top up helps to ensure that the foundation is built upon with structure which will support and maintain the effect for a long time.
- As we don’t deal in quantity of product and judge a treatment to be complete when the effect is achieved, and not before, we don’t pressure ourselves to use up a fixed amount in one treatment. This means no over-stuffed lips or wrinkles, less pain, less swelling, less bruising and less overall trauma.
- A more natural look. If we were trying to use up an amount of filler that had been paid for by the customer, then they would feel cheated if it wasn’t all used up. This will, more often than not, result in a very artificial look which is unlikely to match the customer's expectations. We want our customers to be confident and proud, and we avoid anything that could get in the way of that.
Fillers are not a vanity product. They can have a transformative result on a person’s life by boosting their self-image and giving greatly improved confidence. One of our customers once came into the clinic with abnormally thin lips, so much so that she felt she didn’t have lips at all. This customer came for a course of six treatments and now has natural looking, full lips and for the first time in her life is able to use lipstick and add colour and vibrancy to her lips. Her life has been changed through the confidence this has given her, and she now feels more feminine and has reclaimed her identity as a woman. The psychology of aesthetic makeup and treatments is very important to us at Pure Harmony Clinic, and we try to make what our customers feel on the inside show in the reality seen on the outside. This doesn’t necessarily mean big differences or very full enlargements, often it’s just a question of giving just enough to fill out the skin and give the lips a more vivacious and feminine look.
Fillers are particularly effective for the older client. Collagen production lessons with age, and lip firming suffers as a result. Our older customers can take advantage of a variety of filler types, injected into the lips, wrinkles and lines in order to to roll back the years rather than make them look dramatically different.
Something to consider when deciding whether to embark on a course of treatments is how everything will fit together on your face. It’s less than ideal if you have youthful and firm lips when there are obvious signs of ageing such as deep wrinkles and lines. The initial free consultation is where we would discuss such things with you, but it’s always a good idea to be aware of some of the less obvious issues surrounding the results.
We advise a maintenance top-up after about a year, which would be approximately half the price of the full treatment and we also advise the following in your personal lifestyle in order to support your treatments.
- Try not to smoke
- Avoid alcohol directly following the treatment for a couple of days
- Avoid excessive exposure to the sun in order to keep your treatments looking at their best
We are always here for advice and help if you have questions following your treatments and you can be assured that once you have a consultant working with you, that is the one you will continue with for the course of all your treatments.
